The Havensfall are the great forests, the refuges of centaur, dryad, elf and hind. This is a view of Solstice Glen in the eastern Havensfall, and two of my characters. Here's an extract of the little story I started for them:
'The tiny waterfall was barely higher than him, but it poured gently into a pool fringed by moss-studded rocks. At the bank opposite the waterfall grew a tall, graceful, willow; its drooping branches formed a curtained alcove around the trunk. Kerr was tired and thirsty, and he eyed the shelter of the willow with grateful eyes. It looked like the safest place he had seen so far to rest for a while. He would hear anything creeping up on him across the grass. After stooping awkwardly and cupping his hands in the cool water to drink until his thirst was sated, he pushed aside the leafy tendrils and studied the ‘alcove’. The willow’s roots framed a natural hollow that was large enough to accommodate him and softened by short grass and moss. With a sigh, he folded his legs and settled his heavy body into the spot. It might have been made for him.
For a while he looked out at the waterfall and pool. The agitation of the tumbling water kept the pool’s surface in constant motion. At this side of the pool it meant that gentle wavelets – barely more than large ripples really – lapped quietly against the bank. It was very soothing, especially with the occasional call of a songbird from the rest of the forest. He shifted sideways to lean against the willow’s trunk and closed his eyes. Just a few minutes to refresh himself, Kerr thought wearily. Within moments his breathing had slowed and deepened, and he had been drawn into an exhausted sleep.
Siosa leaned down for a better look at this centaur who had just gone to sleep against her hip. As she took form, separating from her tree, the dryad shook long hair out of her face and tucked it behind a pointed ear absently .'
My writing isn't great, but the image just popped up and I wrote it down before I lost it. Kerr and Siosa, and Solstice Glen and Havensfall forests are all (c) me. Or should be unless I've picked up the words elsewhere.
BTW, Kerr isn't really a centaur - my centaurs tend to have manes down their backbones. Kerr was enchanted.
New things for me in this pic: a proper background(!), dryad, horse, man from behind. I will never, ever, draw a dappled grey horse again.
Wow your colouring has shot up a notch you'v blended them in brillantly the laves on the tree espiealy.
The Dryad really looks like shes coming out of the tree (its totaly 3-D man) yet still a part of it and as allways i congratulate anyone that can draw horses.
You'r writing dosnt suck either i thought it was very descritive look on the brightside you could write like me with a stick in the mud grunting a lot
Too many compliments! *blush causes head to explode* Ew. Messy screen. *wipes laptop screen with t-shirt* Aww... I needed that for tomorrow.
Anyway. I wasn't honestly happy with Siosa's pose - I meant her to emerge more smoothly from the tree without ripples happening, but I screwed up during inking and had to cover my *** quickly and I really shouldn't have admitted this when it obviously worked.
Awww... Kerr looks so sad... makes me want to give him a hug.
Anywho - I like the dapple-grey coloring on Kerr's horse-half (looks like you really put a lot of effort into it, it looks very realistic). Overall, I think you captured the mood of this piece really well... the clearing seems tranquil and inviting. I'd like to be able to just lay down and take a nap there. *grin*
